If I have to listen to B.O. tout the Senate and degrade the house one my time, I may have to go POSTAL!
Last week, the Congress passed legislation that would authorize the ridiculous payroll tax cut again for a year, and set up the XL pipeline project to move forward. Enter Harry Reid. He and his bunch, including many Senate Republicans changed it to a two month plan instead of a year long plan, which means we would get to fight this fight again, and the private sector would incur all kinds of costs to implement it. WHY? They should have sent it to the President and called his bluff!
Well, if you don’t know the answer to a question, the answer is usually MONEY. In this case, since it is Washington, the answer is POWER which is spelled P-O-L-I-T-I-C-S in the District!
A reality check is that we WILL see the tax cut before year-end, somehow. The problem is we will also have to see the likes of Obama, Jake Carney, Harry Reid and other useless piles of matter, standing in front of cameras spewing rhetoric! On Saturday, B.O. says it would be unconscionable to not extend this for the rest of 2013, and on Tuesday he is calling out Boehner and the House for doing just that and putting this pig to bed! He would have said it on Monday except he was reminding 60 Minutes what a great President he is!
JUST SHUT UP, Barack! How dare the Congress not except what you told Harry and the crew to screw up! How dare they ask the Senate to do their job, meet in committee and hash this out; something they have not done once since you arrived.
I am not defending the Congress or what Mitch McConnell did in the Senate at all. The problem here is that what the G.O.P. proposed was reasonable, what the Senate proposed was not. Instead of sitting down and working it out for a year as they should, Reid sends everyone home in hopes that the House will cave. This is what we pay these MORONS for? Do your Freakin’ Job for a change Harry!
This is politics, pure and simple. Not a day goes buy that Axelrod and Obama don’t try to find something else they can run this lame-duck against. If Congress does something, he can’t run against a do-nothing Congress. If the tax cut isn’t passed, he can say that the G.O.P. only likes millionaires and doesn’t care about the middle class!
He tried to hide behind the XL Pipeline deal, instead of pushing it forward and getting some people some work. All to support what should be his futile attempt at re-election. Face it B.O., you should be working on your memoirs, not your re-election campaign!
The worst part about this whole thing is that cutting social security taxes, as we did this year, is stupid. The $160+ Billion taken out of the treasury (supported by a new tax on Fannie/Freddy mortgages) will weaken home sales further and do little to help the economy. Would I like $1000/year in my pocket; sure, who wouldn’t? Is it free? OF COURSE NOT! Will it fix what ails this economy? OF COURSE NOT! Will it continue to perpetuate the ‘Entitlement’ mentality this administration has pushed? OF COURSE IT WILL!
Oh, and by the way, let’s not forget the other $150 or so Billion to extend unemployment benefits. If you listen to our hero, these poor folks who have had their 6 month benefits extended to two years, are beating the streets everyday looking for work, and we can’t give up on them now! Really, B.O.? None of the folks are turning down jobs, working under the table, or just sucking on the ‘Federal Teat’ for as long as you keep supplying the milk?
When did unemployment become welfare? It used to be that employers and employees contributed, and benefits were paid for a short period of time based on contributions. Now, it is ridiculous. Do we all feel bad about people who can’t find work; of course we do. Is there something in the constitution that says we all have to give these folks money if they fall on hard times? Of course not!
This mentality has to stop. Folks who are on the receiving end of these handouts are not necessarily motivated. In Skadinavia, when unemployment benefits lasted 5 years, 80% of the unemployed found work sometime after 4 1/2 years of benefits. They cut it to 3 years, and miraculously work was found after 2 1/2 years. Socked, aren’t you!
This of course misses the point. The power hungry left, wants to keep the downtrodden down. They want the folks to re-elect them, so they keep OUR cash flowing in that direction. Why not vote for the folks that keep you in high cotton?
So while the jerks we have sent to Washington play ping-pong with the future of this country, us working stiffs have to prop up their mess, and listen to their BULLSHIT!
ENOUGH, ALREADY!

I know this is NOT the widest read BLOG on the planet, but I would like to extend a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to those of you who take the time to read these ramblings. 2012 promises to be better than 2011. An ‘American Spring’ is in the air. If a regime change does not occur, I think we will live to see a revolution!
I know what is on MY Christmas list!
Thanks!
Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year to you and yours Pete. I read every article you publish on this blog. Even though I might not comment on all of them, I find them all thought provoking.
Please keep up the good fight sir.
Hutch
Same to you, Hutch. I appreciate all the folks that put up with my rants!
Great Rant! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for another great article Pete. Let’s all hope for a better year than the last few we’ve had to endure. BTW, having trouble filling open positions in my small company. Why? 2 years of unemployment paydays as you noted.
The saddest thing of all is that the liberals like it this way. Keep the down-trodden down, make them rely on the government, and they will vote for you every time!
