Mandate – The Socialists’ Mantra

There are two terms that come to mind when I think about this administration and it’s history: ‘Mandate’ and ‘Unintended Consequences’. They kind of go hand-in-hand. First comes the Mandate; then the Unintended Consequences! A simple solution to both is for the brilliant minds in Washington to stop trying to run every aspect of our lives!

Let’s talk about some of these mandates. Take the Department of Education for example. I went to school; there was no DOE then, and I turned out all right. Now, money is taken from the states, siphoned through the bureaucracy in D.C. and sent back to the states. It is bad enough that only a percentage comes back. Add to this the fact that the government now can tell the states how to spend the money they stole. Twinkies; no way! Mention the bible in the classroom; fugetaboutit!

Being in the motorcycle world, I remember the feds forcing the states to have helmet laws or denying them highway funds. In the real world, this is called blackmail! In Washington, it is called socialism.

The Department of Energy tells car makers they HAVE TO increase gas mileage. No way us mere mortals could figure out what cars to buy without the almighty government sticking there nose where it doesn’t belong and increasing the cost of our vehicles. Airbags, seat belts, etc.; all lead to higher costs and nanny-state garbage!

How about light bulbs. A very important thing for Washington to cover. Now we have bulbs that cost more and require HAZMAT suits to dispose of. What would we do without their meddling?

In the last few weeks we get Obama telling the banks to fork over BILLIONS to fix the mortgage crisis in this country that Barney Frank and other geniuses caused! How DARE they tell a private industry to ‘DONATE’ money and break valid contracts with consumers. My guess; they lost no sleep over this.

The whopper of course is OBAMACARE! Everyone must have health care, they shout! Why; and why should the feds arrange it?

For the first time in over 200 years of history we are told we MUST buy something or employers MUST provide something, even if they can’t afford it! Even if this system SUCKS everywhere it has been tried. That is the first mandate; then we have to cover kids until they are 25 then 28. Why not? This wouldn’t cost insurance companies more nor raise rates, would it? Unintended!

The next logical step…. tell the health insurance companies to include FREE birth control pills, mammograms and other women’s health benefits; of course this wouldn’t raise everyone’s premiums, would it? This little edict from on-high is what has caused the entire Catholic universe to rain on Obama’s parade; can you say unintended consequence Mr. O.?

The simple problem here is that the lefty loons in D.C. want to control everything, down to the snacks we eat! Why are they so inclined? Another simple answer or two. They think they are smarter than the rest of the world, and they want us to be dependent on them, so we will vote them back into office! Do you think it is an accident that more Americans receive some sort of handout from Uncle Sam than ever before? Not hardly!

There are some that talk about smaller government; but not until we do something about it, and really make the government smaller, institute term limits and eliminate retirement benefits for Congress and the White House, will this meddling come to an end. The power in Washington is intoxicating to these people; why should they give any of it up?

I suggest we make the required amount of noise in this country to let these jokers know we are serious, before we are so far gone that only a revolution will eliminate the problem. Dumping Obama will be a good start, but we need REAL statesman that understand the Constitution and the limits contained therein, if we are to stand a chance!

My Two Cents, How ‘Bout Yours?

Just reading more about this BULLSHIT. We are dragging religious leaders to testify to congress; how ridiculous! The problem is that our ridiculous government can’t help but tell us what to do; every time this occurs, new problems arise. Stop telling us what to do, and we will have no new problems. Maybe then we can get back to the job of fixing this country!
