For all the harsh words and money Romney has thrown at New Gingrich throughout this bloody campaign, he should be buying Newt’s dinner! Without Gingrich’s dogged determination, the conservatives in the republican party would be sending the Romneys back to one of their homes and Cadillacs!
Last night in two southern states, over sixty percent of the vote went to anyone but Romney. If the conservative votes went exclusively to Santorum, the race would look extremely different than it does today!
As it stands, it is very refreshing to see Rick Santorum, arguably the most ‘regular-guy’ in the lot, win the last three contests on a shoestring! In this day of super PACs and elitists spending millions and millions, Santorum is flying coach and driving pickup trucks, being outspent 10 to 1. This alone makes me want to back the guy. He is the only candidate that I feel hasn’t lied to the public at all!
One of Romney’s biggest problem is his disconnect with REAL people. He doesn’t get it! Much like Biden who recently told a group at a $5,000/ plate fundraiser that republicans don’t understand the middle class, Romney doesn’t know what it is like to try to make the rent! The country is tired of bullshit-artists controlling their lives!
Now, after nine months of trying and failing, I would ask Gingrich to leave the campaign, get behind and mentor his old friend Santorum, and allow the people to choose a nominee rather than the media. This would help us get ready to beat Obama, and show the pundits where they can stick their predictions!
The media and the D.C. Elite declared Romney the winner years ago; it would warm my heart to make them look sillier than they already do!
