The media gave us McCain in '08 and now they're saying Romney is the only candidate that can beat Obama in '12. Nuff said.

I've heard several suggestions concerning who has the right to vote in this country. The best one I've heard so far goes something like this; paraphrasing here: " If you don't pay federal income taxes, you don't have the right to vote."

I like that idea, but it doesn't have any better chance of existence than a $3 bill. Latest figures I've heard concerning the percentage of tax payers in the USA state that 40 to 48% of voting age citizens pay absolutely no Federal income tax. Pick the figure that best suits your point of view. Barry goes off half-cocked saying the top 1% don't pay enough and how that just isn't fair. Well Barry, what's so damned fair about 40% of the population paying absolutely no taxes at all???

Once that figure of non tax payers rises above 50%, the United States of America as we've known it will cease to exist. And that's whats frustrating Pete and millions of other Americans such as I. The USA is slowly becoming a nation in which a majority of her citizens will have an entitlement mentality.

The Federal Government has already enslaved up to 40% of it's citizens by ensuring they remain dependent upon the many subsidies offered. Earn too much money or show too much personal responsibility and you'll lose your benefits. Oooooh, I don't want to take a risk. I'll remain a slave to the Federal Government and do what they tell me to do. In a nutshell, that right there is what scares the bejesus out of D.C. about Gingrich. He won't cotton to anybody in D.C. and they just can't have that now can they?

Docility and co-dependence are the fads of these times. Lord help you if you're independent, creative and honest nowadays. Somehow, honesty, belief in a Creator and hard work have become looked down upon.

Screw PC, I'm finding an original Don't Tread on Me banner from the 13 colonies and a Stars and Bars flag and putting both of them on my bike. Well maybe not the Stars and Bars all the time. Anybody know where I can find a Don't Tread on Me banner with the snake? Cuz as far as I'm concerned, Washington D.C. has replaced ol George III as the culprit of Taxation without Representation.

Rant? You bet. But I've had about as much as I can stand of the absurdity coming out of Washington D.C. nowadays. From both sides of the political aisle, Republican and Democrat. Heard a figure today that our national debt is now 102% of our GDP. Greece II anyone?

I am with you Hutch! I think Newt would be a great President! He would question everything, and there are enough checks/balances to keep him from doing anything dumb! The DC folks are afraid if they get behind him they may not get their congressional seat back. BULLSHIT! Gingrich knows he would have to fight for congress, senate and the white house seat if he is going to succeed. It should be fun to watch!

I am glad the voters in S.C. heard this. If I were Newt, I would forget the attacks on Romney and just point out that he has been running for 5 years and has won only one primary battle. If this doesn't show that the GOP doesn't want him, I don't know what will!

So the establishment can be defeated after all. Romney's loss tonight in South Carolina provides conservatives with a little bit of hope now. I'll be curious to see how Gingrich's win will be spun by the Republican Establishment and by the Mainstream Media.

Palin endorsed Gingrich in a backhanded way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the Tea Party endorsed Gingrich openly. What really encourages me about Gingrich's win is that the Mainstream Media might have had it's tactics backfire on itself. ABC's release of the interview with Gingrich's second wife just before the South Carolina primary was blatantly obvious and out of bounds. Just as they used sex and infidelity to drive Cain from the primaries, they figured why not try it again.

I'm hopeful that finally enough Americans have awakened to the bias of the media and have said enough is enough. Truly a kick in the shin to the almighty Republican Establishment and the omnipotent Mainstream Media.

I'm still on the fence about Gingrich. I find his personal baggage a little bit distasteful. But I truly like his no holds barred attitude when confronting the Mainstream Media and calling out Obama's policies. Conservatives have been wanting a fighter for years instead of the Maverick McCains and get along Romney's of the Rino's of the Northeast.

Santorum may very well be the best qualified of the two. But I'm afraid he might knuckle under to the all powerful Republican Establishment and Mainstream Media. One thing you can say about Gingrich even with all his faults, is that he'll blast away at both of them and Obama to boot.

I've been spoiling for a fight since '92. Now it looks like we have a candidate that will fight. If nothing else, it's gonna be an entertaining primary now. :)

This is off the subject, but VERY germane to the election. In the last 24 hours I learned about a multi billion dollar contract going to Brazil for warplanes, when an American company offered better planes for less money, and bridge contracts in this country being awarded to Chinese firms.

American Warplanes built elsewhere? Roads and bridges built by foreigners? This country is F***D UP!

WE HAVE TO FIX IT!

It's Gingrich or Santorum for my vote in two weeks. Still don't know which way I'll go and probably won't make up my mind until the day of the primary. If Romney wins, it's '08 all over again and Obama will have 4 more years to destroy America.

If Romney can't admit the Massachussetts Health Care Plan was a mistake, how in the heck can we believe he will work to repeal ObamaCare? After all, Romney's Health Care Plan was the blueprint for Obamacare.

If that isn't enough, we have the mainstream media telling us Romney is the only Republican capable of beating Obama. Excuse me? The mainstream media was also praising McCain in '08 because he was a "Maverick". They praised him all the way until he won the Republican nomination; then turned on him like the hyenas they are.

It would be nice if the Gingrich and Santorum camps could get together in the next two weeks and agree to have one of them drop out of the race so all the conservative vote would go to one candidate. Unfortunately, I don't believe either of them are humble enough to allow this to happen. Because of this, the conservative vote will be split among two camps and barring a major gaff from Romney, ensure he wins the Republican nomination. Assuming of course, he wins South Carolina by a margin of 10% or more.

We have no choice but to vote (in the election) for Obama to be defeated. We all know this.
There is simply no one in the primary (electable sp)to lead us out of this mess. It's a no win situation. Even with Obama gone and 4 to 8 years of Romney we will be in worse shape than today.
I don't understand why we do not have the option of a true conservative who can beat Obama. We have young men willing to serve their country and die for their country but not a viable electable conservative to serve their country without being damaged on their way up.
Thx Pete.

Great Article Andrew!

What the many people fail to realize is that if Romney faces Obama, Obama will bring up this issue in spades. It will make BO look better, and make the two look scarily similar, giving Obama an advantage!

The fact is that he has this albatross hanging around his neck, and that conservatives want anyone but him. I am hoping that the Gingrich/Santorum duet will produce a single candidate rather than continuing to split the vote.

Then we would see if the resulting candidate and Romney could fight it out in the ninth inning, and let the people decide!

My Two Cents!

Honestly Hutch, I have been following Santorum for some time, and he would do us right. Very Conservative and honest, which may disqualify him by itself :). I am just not sure if he gets there. The fact is that the fix is in for Romney, but he could still step on his d**k and we could get Gingrich, which would be a good choice if he stays on his meds, or Santorum. Either would be fine with me, but it would pain me to pull the lever for anyone else! Thanks!
